Due to William Jessup being a Biblically based institution, no students are allowed to participate in drugs or alcohol on campus or otherwise. However, most students find the strict guidelines to be beneficial to their overall success and are more likely to encourage their friends to abstain from such activities than they are to be involved in them.

The consequences of drug or alcohol use by any student are often very severe, possibly resulting in expulsion, because it is a break in the student conduct contract. Overall, though, students are not peer pressured into participating in substance abuse of any kind, which is why William Jessup often has such a good reputation in the eyes of the students and community.
