College Prowler Take
True, you have to work hard at Williams, and As are hard to get, but the amount of personal attention and the quality of instruction make every bead of sweat worth it. Williams professors are accessible, articulate, and extremely erudite. Whatever their specific field, they share a commitment to encourage students to explore and learn, both within and beyond the classroom. Williams professors are also willing to devote whatever time necessary to help a student learn. While the workload does vary with separate departments, students are constantly challenged to improve their skills and obtain new ones, as well. They are also encouraged to share these achievements with others. Professors allow for each student to have his or her own style of learning, and they are supportive of everyone’s individual learning process. Students have to work hard, but they enjoy help and inspiration from their professors every step of the way.

I feel like some of the professors...
I feel like some of the professors were too demanding and assigned more homework than a normal person could handle. I am pretty hardworking, but I think it is wrong to deprive yourself of sleep all the time. I know many kids develop stress-related psych disorders because of trying to cope with all of the work, and stay on top while not sleeping, eating, or socializing with friends. I think the school should try to make sure people stay healthy, even though they are the ones who choose to work so hard. Maybe they just need to be told to relax. |

The professors are great, and it is really worth it to take more challenging classes with some of them—even if your grade is not as good as you expected. Williams is not a place where you should shy away from things you have not tried before. And the professors make those new things all the more appealing and accessible. |

It’s very important to meet with your professors, go to their office hours, and just spend more time with them outside of class. They are really, really helpful, and they will let you learn in the format that you feel most comfortable learning. |

As a student at Williams, I spent more time with my coaches than with my profs, because I was on two varsity teams. But the professors never thought less of me for not being a very academic person. |
