Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There is no doubt that the town and college of Williams are safe. College security tries to make it safer by locking random doors and making fire alarms sensitive to the smell of fried onions.

The security staff members are some of the friendliest and most caring people around, but their priorities don’t always make sense. Known for their prompt and kind help, security officers on campus could ease off closing the libraries and be more attentive to drinking problems, but all-in-all, they do a good job of making students feel safe at their home away from home. Overall, the security staff makes sure the campus is safe and that students have a reliable source for their safety needs.

Extremely Safe Campus

There is a green light system, it is fairly remote and the town is very safe, probably one of the safest campuses around.

Very Safe

Williams is a super safe campus. I have never felt unsafe. We are sorta in the middle of nowhere but the campus security is really friendly. If you twist your ankle or something, security is always happy to give you a ride to the health centre. They really aren't that strict either. If they come through and see some drinking games they probably wouldn't do more than just break it up and minor scolding.

Despite Recent Hate Crime, Campus Retains Small-Town Feel

Many students feel that a recent hate crime committed on campus has shaken our faith in our safety and security on campus. However, in my experience Williams is extremely safe in general. I'm sure people steal sometimes but I've never heard of or experienced it; just take the obvious precautions. Campus Security is very helpful and relatively lax on drinking (beer in the common room but keep hard alcohol out of sight).
