Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students agree that living off campus is not really an option. Since Williams is a small school, there is plenty of housing available on campus. Williamstown is a small town, and there are not many places to stay, so the smallness of the town and the College make living on campus the most logical option.

However, some students do choose to live off campus, and they value their experiences. Off-campus housing is generally near campus, but rents can be pretty high. Many students enjoy the freedom of living on their own and getting to set their own rules. Williams' housing policy regarding off-campus housing is rather tough. The number of students permitted to live off campus is limited, as are the options.

Slim Pickings

There is almost no off-campus housing available, as Williamstown is a very small town. Over 90% of students live on campus all four years and the college residences are usually pretty nice.

Very Limited, but Nice

At Williams, there isn't much beyond the campus, but there are a few apartments on Spring Street where seniors can live off-campus. These apartments are above the restaurants and stores on Spring Street, and are generally large, safe, and not ridiculously expensive.
