Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Parking does not seem to be an issue at Williams, even though it could be improved. When people come to visit, parking becomes very important, so it is nice to know that people are satisfied with their visitor parking passes. The College has been working on ways to provide parking close enough to one’s residence so that students don't end up walking to their car for a longer time than they drive it.

As for the construction projects, the consequences are yet to be seen. Nevertheless, parking is not much of an issue because the campus is so small.

Parking

Parking on campus is a crap shoot. Sometimes you have to take a fairly long walk to your car.

Got Fines?

Fines are severe and frequent. Williams tries to discourage car use, which makes sense because you really don't need a car. So in order to do this, they put the parking lots very far away. Permits are also expensive.

Summary: Don't bring a car. They are expensive here and you will pay.

Variety in Parking but Little Need for a Car

Classes are located close to dorms, so normally walking or a bicycle is sufficient to get around campus. However, parking is available on campus, and a small number of students drive to classes.
