Awesome, Rigorous, and Challenging

Academics at Wofford are rigorous and challenging but are managable if you are willing to work hard. Professors are more than willing to help and each department has student tutors who are more than willing to help any student that needs it. Professors are easily accessable both inside and outside of the classroom whether a student needs help with classroom material or advising for their academic and occupational plans. Wofford has some of the nation's leading acceptance rates to graduate, medical, and law schools, a promising quality for undergrad students. Because Wofford is a college and not a university, it is intedrested in teaching the fundamentals of the various subjects instead of placing all resources in research.

Overall Experience at Wofford College

I Love Wofford!

Being an ambassador at Wofford College, I am given the challenge to highlight everything I love about Wofford in an approximately 90 minute time frame. This, I feel, is nearly impossible. But leaving the admissions building, whether it is with a group of perspective students and their families or with a group of visitors, I look my upcoming tour in the eyes and mentally tell it "Challenge Accepted." There is so much about this school that made me not only choose it as my top pick during my college search but also made me fall in love with it within the first day of being a student. There is so much about this school that makes it feel like more than just a school. It makes it feel like my second home.

The community atmosphere seen and felt at Wofford makes this college feel more like a home instead of "just a college". The professors, student, and staff are particularly friendly and loving to everyone from students, faculty/staff, prospective students and thier families, and vistors. This southern school embodies your stereotypical southern hospitality which makes the beautiful and historic campus especially warm and welcoming. It is nice to walk to class and recognize, and maybe even personally know, almost every face you pass. Academics are rigorous but offer an attainable challenge to both the students and professors. But as a student, hard work definitely pays off. The small enrollment ensures more interaction between students and professors both inside and outside of the classroom. The professors are very accessible and willing to help students in any way they can. Wofford is also very interested in giving back to both the community surrounding it and communities further away that are not as fortunate, an activity that every Wofford student, professor, and staff member is more than willing to participate in. Being a member of the dance team, school spirit is very important to me. Walking around campus hearing other students talk about how they can't wait until the next sporting event so they can cheer on their fellow Terriers is heart-warming. As a member of a spirit team, I feel it important to embody high levels of school spirit. I find this easy to do with such a wonderful student body and fan base to aid me and my fellow spirit members to cheer on our teams not only during their games, but when the athletes are seen around campus.

I would not even consider choosing any other school if I were given the chance. I know Wofford was the right choice for me. As I reflect on my first year of college, each and every experience I had and every opprotunity I was given made my overall experience better than I could have even imagined it to be. During my senior year of high school, my head led me to Wofford, but after my freshman year of college, my heart is letting me remain a student there.

Warm Weather

It is pretty consistently warm here, even in the winter. You won't be seeing much snow, but the winter ca be relatively warm in comparison to up north. Despite this it doesn't get too hot in the spring. If you decide to stay for the summer be prepared for sweltering heat though.
