Guys & Girls:
70/30 male to female ratio really is present at school. It's pretty easy to find a good group of friends though, even if you are a minority aka a girl.

Not too strict. It's not like a free-for-all but obviously there are rules to follow.

There aren't many options for dining. There's only one main dining hall, the other one is only a restaurant-style hall open for dinner. The main dining hall is conveniently located, but has very unhealthy, greasy food. As a vegetarian/vegan it is sometimes hard for me to find options that aren't just salad bar.

Trains don't travel from near my school to near my home, but busses do. And ride sharing is pretty common.
College Freshman 2013-12-11T01:41:08Z
Walking to and from parties is no big deal, some bars too. Also a school car service is free and can get you.

I was hesitant coming to WPI, but I'm so happy with my decision!

Not the best Varsity teams, except for Men's Basketball. A lot of people are involved in club sports though, and the gym is open for everyone and is brand new.

All upperclassmen say it's totally worth moving off campus, and it's cheaper than room and board, too. There are a lot of close side streets so it's never too long of a walk to campus.

I feel like half or more of the campus is involved in Greek Life- or at least it seems that way. I'm in a sorority and love it!
College Freshman 2013-12-11T01:36:56Z
There's a lot of diversity on my campus, especially many people from different ethnic backgrounds. We have a very high percentage of international students, too.

Health & Safety:
Not in the best neighborhood, so crime is common enough and I'd never walk myself somewhere alone at night.
College Freshman 2013-12-11T01:34:52Z
The weather starts getting dreary when November hits. We're in the northeast so lots of rain, snow, and cold.
College Freshman 2013-12-11T01:34:20Z
I believe it is free to have a car on campus, and you can park it in a designated lot that is off campus. However, freshman are not allowed to get these parking spots. My school's in a city though, so if necessary you can park your car on a side street.

Definitely contact the school directly and show comparisons to any colleges that have offered more in scholarships because your college may be able to increase your financial aid to match.

Something, not sure what, is weird about the food on campus. I am almost always left with a weird after-taste or feeling slightly sick. However, there are many options available. Students tend to really enjoy the cookies.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:44:02Z
Greek life is very different than what most expect. It is very service oriented and many chapters receive national recognition. About 1/3 of students participate.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:42:32Z
This is certainly a good school, but it is bad for me.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:42:08Z
This is an engineering school; it is not known for its athletics for a reason.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:41:17Z
Shuttles around and within a 1-mile radius of campus offered free of cost after dark until 4 am. Public transportation accessible, but not convenient.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:39:54Z
The pros and cons of campus housing is very dependent upon which dorm building you end up in. Some building are old and out of date, with weird lay outs. Others are newer, nicer but far from the central parts of campus.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:31:39Z
Being in New England, it gets cold pretty quickly. Outdoor activities are very limited.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:30:33Z
While the wired internet works great, the wifi is very spotty and will drop randomly.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:29:27Z
Campus facilities are average overall. The Sports & Rec center is recently redone and in excellent condition.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:26:39Z
There is about two blocks of commercial area in walking distance. This contains about two restaurants and a frozen yogurt place. One restaurant takes "Bonus Points" from the meal plan as payment, which is a convenient option.
College Freshman 2013-11-06T01:24:42Z
While there are a fair number of international students, the campus does not feel very diverse. There is a lack of variation in interests. The majority of people are middle-upper class white males.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
