Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The school’s basketball arena, the Cintas Center, also plays host to the James E. Hoff Student Dining Hall. This dining hall serves as the primary source for meals on a day-to-day basis. Commonly referred to as “the Caf,” the Hoff Dining Hall is the money spot for a good breakfast after an all-night cram session. Lunch and dinner are usually decent, but the cafeteria can come up with some weird selections. Students often complain that the dining hall isn’t open past 8 p.m. To remedy this problem, there are a variety of late-night food outlets in the Gallagher Student Center, with most of the restaurants being open until 11 p.m. Subway seems to be the most popular of these selections, along with Blue Gibbon, which serves Chinese food.

Overall, the food selection at Xavier is decent, but can sometimes be scarce, due to there being only two dining locations. Luckily for the students, http://xudining.com will tell you if there’s nothing exciting on the menu, from the comfort of your own dorm. If that‘s the case, calling in a pizza delivery is the popular choice at XU. With the lack of choices and no 24-hour eateries to be found on campus, Xavier’s dining situation definitely has room for improvement.

There's some variety in Campus Dining

The recently renovated the cafeteria so it's gorgeous. Usually, it's not too difficult to find a place to sit, but sometimes it gets a bit crowded, especially during exam week. There's also a decent variety of food. I mean, there's always salad, they rotate between options for soup, there's a gluten free zone, sandwich station, desserts, burgers, and pizza/pasta along with the daily menu. However, don't come expecting a five star restaurant. Most of the stuff is edible, but not much more. Every now and then, they put out some great stuff, like sweet potato fries, and these flat bread pizzas with red peppers on it. Oh, and you can make your own omelet every day for breakfast. Oh, yeah, and there's the soda machine. With an user friendly interface, and hundreds of options between sodas and other drinks, you can feel free to mix what ever flavor of Coke that suits you.

Xavier Dining

Like any college dining plan, the cafeteria gets old after a while. At Xavier, the cafeteria give a decent variety with above average taste. This year, Xavier moved it's dining facility to their new residential complex. The new cafeteria is beautiful with a great atmosphere. With certain meal plans comes $100 dining dollars which can be used at Subway or Blue Gibbon on campus. There is also Ryan's Pub which provides a meal exchange on Mondays-Thursdays.

Not the Best

Since the campus is small so is the food choices. We have Subway, Ryan's Pub, a Chinese eatery, and of course our cafeteria. we also have a couple of small snack/lunch places, but I dont consider them as places to get a quote "meal". The cafeteria food is ok at the start, but it becomes tiresome and most students find other places to eat. I perfer to eat outside of campus (except for Subway) because it's cheaper and their quality of food is more effecient and fills me up.

Special Options Students sometimes don’t find what they’re looking for in the Caf (Hoff Dining Hall) or in Gallagher, but luckily a multitude of pizza and Chinese places will deliver right to the dorms until as late as 2 a.m. on weekends. And you wonder where the Freshman 15 comes from.

The newly renovated dining hall is equipped with many overhead TVs to watch football, game shows, or just to fill the awkward silences during mealtime conversations. Unlimited food, TV, and hanging out with your friends? It’s a wonder anyone ever leaves.
