Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The school’s basketball arena, the Cintas Center, also plays host to the James E. Hoff Student Dining Hall. This dining hall serves as the primary source for meals on a day-to-day basis. Commonly referred to as “the Caf,” the Hoff Dining Hall is the money spot for a good breakfast after an all-night cram session. Lunch and dinner are usually decent, but the cafeteria can come up with some weird selections. Students often complain that the dining hall isn’t open past 8 p.m. To remedy this problem, there are a variety of late-night food outlets in the Gallagher Student Center, with most of the restaurants being open until 11 p.m. Subway seems to be the most popular of these selections, along with Blue Gibbon, which serves Chinese food.

Overall, the food selection at Xavier is decent, but can sometimes be scarce, due to there being only two dining locations. Luckily for the students, http://xudining.com will tell you if there’s nothing exciting on the menu, from the comfort of your own dorm. If that‘s the case, calling in a pizza delivery is the popular choice at XU. With the lack of choices and no 24-hour eateries to be found on campus, Xavier’s dining situation definitely has room for improvement.

Repetitive, Bland, OK?

The food choice was repetitive but nonetheless, any hungry college students knows that we will eat almost about anything that is safe. It might not the best tasting, healthiest, or scrumptious, but it was a passable form of cuisine, if such words can be used in the same sentence.

Dining on Campus Is Adequate

I have worked in one of the on campus restaurants as well as the dining hall. It has been a good place for me to work.

Could be worse

People may be rough on the caf, but compared to a lot of other places, it is nice. It's brand new and has some good options. Always room for improvement, but really alright. Subway is a hugely popular spot to get food on campus. Currito Burrito is new this year and popular as well; it's basically a knock-off of Chipotle. There are a couple other places around campus as well.

Special Options Students sometimes don’t find what they’re looking for in the Caf (Hoff Dining Hall) or in Gallagher, but luckily a multitude of pizza and Chinese places will deliver right to the dorms until as late as 2 a.m. on weekends. And you wonder where the Freshman 15 comes from.
Did You Know? The newly renovated dining hall is equipped with many overhead TVs to watch football, game shows, or just to fill the awkward silences during mealtime conversations. Unlimited food, TV, and hanging out with your friends? It's a wonder anyone ever leaves.
