On the weekends, or on special occasions, Xavier students tend to flock toward the trendy restaurants in neighboring areas. Rookwood, an upscale shopping center, is home to many of the dining choices that XU students frequent on a regular basis. Buffalo Wild Wings, PF Chang’s, First Watch, and Buca di Beppo are just a few of the dining options in Rookwood that are extremely popular at Xavier. Those preferring a different atmosphere often venture to Hyde Park, where cozy restaurants like Zip’s Café and Graeter’s ice cream offer a more authentic Cincinnati feel. Hyde Park can be a little pricier, but there are tons of great places to choose from. Any time you mention food and Cincinnati in the same sentence, you’re obligated to at least make reference to Skyline Chili, the city’s trademark dish. The special brand of chili served with spaghetti, cheese, or hot dogs is a favorite among locals. For out-of-towners, it may take some getting used to, but you can’t experience Cincinnati without at least trying the stuff. (Don’t forget the Tums.)

The off-campus dining experience at Xavier is convenient and full of a wide array of choices. Whatever you’re in the mood for, there is sure to be a place within a few miles to fill your stomach at a reasonable price. The best part about it is most of the popular restaurants are all clumped together in Rookwood and Hyde Park, so you don’t even have to decide what you’re in the mood for until you get where you’re going. Whether you develop a taste for Skyline Chili or not, there are still plenty of great places to feed your face off campus.

Dining Out Is a Treat!

Eating out is great when you can afford it! Therein lies the dilemma of a college student. We will eat most anything but our funds are limited! There is plenty to pick from and we do get some student discounts.

If you can get to it..

There isn't much in an immediate walking distance, but if you have a car there is a ton to pick from. Hyde Park is a few minutes away with some awesome little places to eat. Within an exit or two from campus there are tons of options. Downtown Cincy also adds some more choices. Really there is plenty, as long as you have a way of getting there.

Off-Campus Dining

I'd have to give off-campus dining an A, simply because Xavier is located in a city that offers a lot of various areas to eat. If you have a car, you are able to travel to eat almost any type of cuisine within a twenty minute drive. If you do not have a car, however, I'm not exactly sure the answer would be the same. There are no real dining areas within walking distance of campus.
