Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Lack of adequate parking is one of the major gripes heard around campus. Most of the lots rest atop a large hill overlooking the layout of the campus, and unless you’re lucky enough to grab a spot in one of the coveted lower lots such as R-1, it’s going to be a long hike to wherever you’re trying to go. Parking tickets and fines at and around Xavier are as steep as the hill on R-2, ranging from $20 to $50! However, the parking is well organized, with designated lots for residents and commuters and corresponding stickers that ensure everyone parks where they’re supposed to.

Luckily, even if you park your car what seems like light-years away from where you need to be, the campus police will make sure it’s safe. Positioning patrol cars in the parking lots after dark, the police make their presence felt to thwart any would-be window-smashing stereo thieves. There are also cameras near all of the on-campus lots, making it even harder for such vandals to ruin your day.

Cheap

A parking permit is only about $100 per year and parking is available for all students. Parking is usually at most a 5 minute walk from your class with resident parking being about the same distance from residence halls. The only issue is during basketball games the good commuter student parking goes to ticket holders and students have to park far away and walk

Eff the hill.

R-2 and R-3 are synonymous with HELL. Parking is an ordeal, because there are very few decent parking spaces. And once those fill up, you're stuck parking up on the hill and having to trek back down. But we're spoiled, because that's probably the normal distance at bigger schools.

Meh

There is always enough parking on campus, however, the majority of it is relatively far away from central campus. Everyone always hopes to get a spot in the smaller R1 parking lot because it is not as far of a hike. The R2 lot is farther away and can be nerve racking to walk back from alone if you get back to campus later at night.
