Guys and Gals

We aren't know for being partiers like Miami or the hottest but Xavier for sure has amazing people. The girls are attractive and most guys are hot. Xavier students are known for kind, welcoming, open, intelligen and fun. I love the people here it truly is a commmunity!

Changes Every Hour and Unseaonable

One day in November, I woke up and it was barley above 40. Before the day was done the high was 67. It is now January and we had an ice storm a few days ago. Now everyone is walking around in shorts.

Not Much

There are multiple house parties every weekend but they get busted up pretty quickly and walking in the cold sucks.

Not Much in Walking Distance

There is not much to eat off campus that's in walking distance. If you or someone you know has a car you can go to Hyde Park which as a lot of place.

Wireless Network Is Bad

The internet connection at Xavier University is not good. It often stops working or has to be restarted. Having Wi-fi everywhere on campus is nice and having free printing is great. The computers could also be updated.

There's some variety in Campus Dining

The recently renovated the cafeteria so it's gorgeous. Usually, it's not too difficult to find a place to sit, but sometimes it gets a bit crowded, especially during exam week. There's also a decent variety of food. I mean, there's always salad, they rotate between options for soup, there's a gluten free zone, sandwich station, desserts, burgers, and pizza/pasta along with the daily menu. However, don't come expecting a five star restaurant. Most of the stuff is edible, but not much more. Every now and then, they put out some great stuff, like sweet potato fries, and these flat bread pizzas with red peppers on it. Oh, and you can make your own omelet every day for breakfast. Oh, yeah, and there's the soda machine. With an user friendly interface, and hundreds of options between sodas and other drinks, you can feel free to mix what ever flavor of Coke that suits you.

You don't come to Xavier for the weather

I know people who think they can expect the weather when they come down here. And then I think it's funny when they are surprised that a day goes from freezing cold to pleasantly warm in a matter of moments. You get a ton of rain, and it's impossible to tell what season it is outside without a calendar. The start of summer comes too late to enjoy, but it's not pleasantly cool outside until it's almost time to for the weather to get really cold. Most of spring is really winter, and I don't really know what winter is. It's this freak conglomeration of warmth, cold, snow, sun, and rain. Lots and lots of rain. Don't expect snowball fights and missing classes. Expect the unexpected. Or better yet, don't have any expectations.

Xavier

Xavier has a unique community that caters for one another. I have to say, EVERYONE here is friendly. Also, Xavier is a small school so there are lots of opportunities for students who stand out in any way. There are parties for the freshman on the weekends, but there are also options for students who don't want to drink. Overall, i would say that Xavier is a great place that every student should check out.

printing is free and unlimited for all undergrads.

A Variety of Living Options at a Somewhat High Cost

The quality of on-campus living at Xavier varies among the dorms and apartments. While these options are much more expensive than living off campus, the buildings are generally nice and convenient. Beunger Hall is known for being the nicest (and least social) of the four dorms, but you have to be an honors student or athlete to live there. Husman and Kuhlman are suite-style and generally have their own unique mix of people. Brockman is the typical community bathroom dorm, but everyone who has ever lived there has loved it. It's definitely the most social dorm on campus. The apartments are nice and occupied by upperclassmen. The University Apartments look scary from the outside (it's the oldest building on campus), but the inside is rather nice. The Village and Commons apartments are popular among upperclassmen, as they provide a nice living arangement so close to campus. A new dorm is set to be finished by Fall 2011, adding a new option to the mix of on-campus living.

Safety

Xavier is very safe. The police are a constant presence on campus. it is unique that they are there to help more than punish. I feel very safe at Xavier

Alcohol Consumption Is Pretty Popular

Drug use at Xavier varies-depending on who you hang out with. Overall, people mostly stick to drinking alcohol and smoking weed.

Good at the Beginning . . . Bad by the End

The food is good starting off with decent variety and pretty good taste all around. By the end of the year it is pretty bad. There is really nothing worth eating at the cafeteria. The dining outside of the cafeteria is pretty limited, but good.

Not Half Bad Down in the Natti

Down in Cincinnati, it's all about the chili. Chile is relatively cheap, which is a good thing, but it's not fine dining. Cincinnati is also home to a world class BBQ restaurant Montgomery Inn which is fantastic, but very expensive. I'd say sample the chili for the experience, go to Montgomery Inn.

O'Connor Sports Center is embarrassing

Athletics are great at Xavier. However, want to work out? The O'Connor Sports Center is pitiful. I'm embarrassed when I see tours coming through it. In the middle of winter you can count on leaving with a sopping wet t-shirt because the ventilation is HORRIBLE! The machines are ancient and don't work.

I’m glad I picked Xavier. I’ve never had so much fun in my life. I’ve met some awesome people and did some cool stuff along the way. I stand by my decision 100 percent.

My overall experience has been...

My overall experience has been great. I love the school’s enthusiasm for all of its endeavors. There is also something for everyone. The clubs and organizations make it very easy to meet many people with the same beliefs, goals, and ideals as you. I really feel like I’m in a place that cares personally about my development and takes serious steps to ensure that I succeed not only here, but throughout the rest of my life, as well.

I am enjoying Xavier very much. The friends that I have made are great, and I am involved with many clubs and organizations. I wish that I was a little closer to home sometimes. However, it is nice to be able to be on my own and have a little independence.

I really like it here, mostly because of the friends I have made, including some of my teachers. Although I sometimes wish the school were a little bigger, or Cincinnati was more entertaining, I enjoy it.

Cincinnati has the most unpredictable weather in the Midwest. Pack for dry heat, rainy cold, and everything in between.

Parties on campus are pretty rare,...

Parties on campus are pretty rare, just because the campus police and the Norwood police are all about breaking them up before midnight. Most people go to the dive bars around campus: the Woods and Dana’s. Most parties are more like medium-sized gatherings of friends, not huge ragers.
