Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Cincinnati’s weather is an anomaly, kind of like Mother Nature’s little freak experiment. It can be rainy and 40 degrees one day, then sweltering hot and 85 degrees the next. Regardless of the time of year, any kind of weather is possible on any given day. Be a good Boy or Girl Scout, and come prepared for anything. Be sure to bring all types of clothing for all seasons. The winters are usually frigid, but lacking in the snow department compared to the rest of Ohio. Freezing rain is a regular occurrence, so come with plenty of cold medicine in anticipation of the campus-wide epidemic of sickness that frequently spreads sometime around finals. Once winter does finally subside, the last few weeks of school usually welcome a refreshing burst of sunny skies, warm weather, and tank tops. With plenty of green space in the heart of campus, make sure to bring a football, Frisbee, or beach towel, because the quad is the place to be once the weather gets warm.

People in Cincinnati seem obsessed with their weather because of how weird it is. Some even take pride in being able to deal with the sporadic conditions year after year. Honestly, after living here for a while, you can’t blame them. The unpredictability can be a hassle, and it seems like there are no definitive seasons to dress for. Unless tear-away pants come back into fashion, getting dressed in the morning in Cincinnatie is a gamble most of the year.

Snow Days Are at a Minimum!

We have had a number of snow days while I have attended Xavier. Most of the time we have nice weather so it doesn't affect us too much.

Better Than Some.

It's Ohio, so weather is a bit streaky. But winter is shorter and less harsh than most other places in Ohio. And when it's nice weather here, it is BEAUTIFUL. Sometimes have to deal with some torrential downpours, though.

Bipolar Weather

Being a Cincinnati native my entire life I'm used to the crazy, bipolar weather but it still shocks me how it can go from cold and 30 degrees one day to 60 degrees in sunny the next in Feb. Cincinnati is known for werid weather.
