Busy Body – Everyone is so busy with their own activities, let it be clubs, varsity sports, archipelago, orchestra, the Yale Daily News, part-time jobs and studying. Yet even though everyone is juggling with ten things at once, everyone manages to have time to still meet up with friends and hang out either in the dining halls or at parties. The community is definitely tight and friendly.

I Have No Program. I have no program. You only have to apply for two majors, cognitive science being one of them.

Quite gorgeous if you enjoy an acute sense of seasonal change. Fantastic colorful falls, somewhat oppressive winters, with gorgeous and rejuvenating springs to make up for it. Not as cloudy as some people think.

General Aesthetics – The combination of gothic architecture and efficient use of green space (trees, grass, etc) makes Yale both inherently aesthetically pleasing as well as welcoming and 'natural.'

Happiest Place in the World – To summarize: it's just awesome. It's really hard to get in and the classes are a challenge, but it's all worth it. Every second.

A- Is Pretty Self-Explanatory No? Great middle-eastern fare, as well as some of the best pizza in the Americas. Nuff said.

One Word: GHEAV – jk- what i mean to say is that yale offers 16 separate dining halls, all with professional chefs employed. The food can only be compared to the finest mid-summer orgasm. (Also, GHEAV is arguably the greatest cultural achievement that New Haven ever will produce).

Health & Safety:
Campus security is second only to airforce one's security. Chief R. Higgins- has this s*** on lock. Yale is basically in a bubble and the campus security combined with the New Haven police force keeps the crazies at bay. Honestly, Yale has a 19 billion dollar endowment- they put a lot of that into their students' safety.

Not Especially Important – Greek life really isn't a huge part of life at Yale. Some people are in Greek societies and really like them, but your social life is definitely not limited if you aren't in one. Everyone can goes to most frat parties. I like that aspect, so that's why I'd rate it highly.

Most Yale students don't interact with New Haven residents much on a regular basis. Some interactions come through service organizations, but a lot of Yale students keep to the Yale bubble. While it doesn't have the greatest reputation, the area of New Haven immediately surrounding Yale feels safe and is kept up well. The food is amazing (great pizza and Thai), but the shops can leave something to be desired. While we live in New Haven, you shouldn't ignore the accessibility of New York. Many students, especially upperclassmen, take day trips there on the weekends.

New Haven is a city. Cars are problematic on campus as there is no parking. Yale has a good bus system, but most kids walk where they need to go and it's totally doable. The trains are a great way to head to NY or DC.

Guys & Girls:
You will find a wide array of students from every walk of life and from all over the globe. There is no way to stereotype the student population here.

All in All – Yale is the perfect fit for me. The people are the biggest surprise. Everyone is nice, so helpful, sincere and smart. I feel really lucky to be a part of the Yale experience.

Dining Options – There are plenty of options. There are plenty of healthy choices, as well as comfort food. They do a good job trying to meet the needs of so many students.

A car is most definitely not needed at all. Everything is in walking distance and public transportation is great. If you do bring a car (or if parents are coming), watch out because the police do like to enforce parking rules and give out tickets.

Most Ideal Situation – Yale does a great job of taking the student's health and safety at priority. A student is never punished for getting help for a drug/alcohol problem or incident. The most that will happen is the student will have a short conversation with his/her residential college dean about the incident. Parents are not involved.

Not Much to Complain About – The housing system is superior to those of many other colleges. All dorms have common rooms and plenty of space.
College Junior 2011-12-15T23:41:58Z
Safety First, Then Consequences – So far I haven't really heard of students getting into severe trouble this year, but it definitely can happen. Plagiarism is taken very seriously, and due to recent Title IX disputes, there has definitely been great pressure to improve the sexual environment on campus. I'm pretty sure I had to go to 4 required "sex talks" within my first two weeks because the administration wants to prevent unhealthy relationships and misconduct. Overall, the safety of the student is the primary concern. Punishment for behavior usually comes second.

Really Yummy and With Great Variety – I personally love the food on campus, and I rarely eat off campus because I know I will always have a great meal waiting for me in one of the many dining halls. There are options for almost every diet, and if you don't find what you need you can most certainly request it. Since freshmen have to purchase the full meal plan anyway, students should definitely take advantage of what the dining halls have to offer.

So Much Variety! Every facility you can imagine is available to you. There is a huge gym that provides exercise programs and classes for a fee (or you can just go with your friends and use the equipment). Every residential college also has a gym. There are numerous libraries on campus with a daunting number of books, and they are very nice places to study. The campus is absolutely beautiful and every student has access to amazing resources.

Amazing Food – I haven't dined off campus all that often, but I have heard that the restaurants in New Haven are great. I know from experience that New Haven has absolutely amazing pizza, and you can find all sorts of quality restaurants close to campus featuring every variety of food imaginable. There is also "Restaurant Week", which is when restaurants give lunch and dinner specials to students so they can get a taste for the menu. Wall Street Pizza is a favorite of mine. They serve amazing pizza and breakfast items all day, and students get a 10% discount when they present their ID.

Health & Safety:
Heavy Security – The university does everything in its power to keep the students safe. There are always plenty of security officers roaming around campus (and they are very friendly, I must add). There are plenty of options for late night transportation (such as the mini-bus and security escort service) so students don't have to walk back to their dorms alone. There are also many "blue lights" scattered around campus. These devices have an emergency button you can press and security will be on site within the minute. They also have a phone attached so you can request a security escort. As far as I know, every residential college dean and freshman counselor provides freshmen with their cell phone numbers within the first week for emergency purposes as well. Security tries its best to keep the students aware of situations on campus, and although I receive more emails from the police chief about muggings than I would prefer, I generally feel very safe on campus.

Guys & Girls:
Shockingly Laid Back – There is plenty of diversity in appearance and personality, and it is impossible to not find friends with similar interests. Many of the students dress very nicely absolutely every day, but there is also a great number of students who appreciate a good sweat pants day. For the most part, everyone is surprisingly down to Earth and willing to help each other.
College Junior 2011-12-05T20:20:36Z
Do What You Want – Regulation is at a bare minimum, and both alcohol and weed are definitely very visible and widely used. Not a lot of people regularly smoke weed; most of the time, with a few exceptions, it's just a weekend thing or once in a while. I'd say it's about 50/50 smokers and non-smokers. As for other drugs, I haven't encountered anyone using them myself, though I've heard of a few people doing coke.
College Junior 2011-12-05T20:17:21Z
Guys & Girls:
Good Looks – While the girls tend to look better than girls, there are great looking people of both genders. The guys also tend to be preppier. Main styles of dress on campus are either athletic or preppy. And almost everyone is very social--work hard, party hard. Most of the time, though, the furthest a "relationship" will go is friends with benefits. There definitely are a few relationships though.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
