accelerated v. honors

My school has accelerated math and honors classes. they learn the exact same thing, and weighted the same but the honors classes have more assignments and assessments. Do colleges care about the differences

OH yes! Honors being a more difficult class will benefit you more than the accelerated class. This is because colleges want to see gradual improvement of the student, and by taking this harder class it shows that you are willing to pursue a more difficult class over an easier class. These types of classes are what differ regular High School Students from Successful High School Students. But, do not just stop there! Try and take some AP classes or even Dual Enrollment. These types of classes are what colleges want to see. Do not be afraid of a class just because it sounds or will be hard. Work is what gets you to the top. So go for it and don't just stop at Honors. I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK.

I think so! Colleges like to see that you have challenged yourself with the most difficult classes available at your high school, and your willingness to work hard will prove to be an asset in the college application process.

Colleges tend to be informed by the high school about the differences and take that into account in assessing admission.

Yale won't care about your freshman/sophomore classes. obviously it's important that you learn a lot, but don't worry too much until about junior/senior year when you can take APs. then take lots of APs. like as many as you can...
