Mostly Alcohol, Some Weed – The predominant social culture on campus involves alcohol. It's free, abundant, and easily accessible for students of all ages. Parties are always open to all students, whether it is in a dorm, frat, or college dining halls. I have never heard of someone being denied entry to a social function. That is simply unheard of. As long as you are a Yale student you are granted the right to drink and socialize with the host (this is to keep out townies sometimes). There isn't much peer pressure to drink. Mostly the problem comes from Yale freshmen students who have either 1)never drank before college or 2)drink beyond their limits. In my 3 years on campus, I have very rarely heard of drugs other than marijuana. Some people like to smoke, but I'd say it's way less common than drinking. Rare rumors of someone trying cocaine.
