Truly Need Based

Yale is incredibly generous with financial aid. Most students get some, and the average financial aid package is well over half the cost of attendance. It is a very easy process, and the school will make sure you have the funding you need.

Cheaper Than State School If You Need It

Yale aid is need based and pledges to meet 100% of need. Furthermore, if you family makes less than 200K annually, they won't pay more than 10% of their income. Honestly, I've paid more for student contribution than my parents' contribution, which was easy considering that on-campus jobs pay over $10/hour as min wage.

Advice on Financial Aid

Yale has the best financial aid available. In fact, Yale will most likely be less expensive to attend than a smaller, less selective private school or (in some cases) state schools. This is because Yale has a huge endowment and a deep dedication to bringing in students from all kinds of socioeconomic backgrounds. So apply!

If you didn't receive as much financial aid as you might like, call Yale's financial services and explain your situation. Once you are admitted, Yale will do anything in its power to make sure that you can afford to attend, even paying for travel expenses and textbook costs where necessary.
